AutoSave Locking up excel

We have an employee who does a lot of work with 2MB+
excel files, and he often has 3 to 4 open at a time, and
excel is going into autosave when he has these files open
and completely locking up the files. The PC being used is
a laptop with a Intel Centrino 1.6Mhz w. 1GB RAM, so I
don't think hardware is necessarily the issue. We like
the autosave feature, and want to keep that running if
possible. Any ideas to what could be causing this, or how
we could go about correcting the issue? Thank you for
your help!!

I don't use Autosave and I don't know how the internals of that addin work.

But if you're ready to try something else...

You may want to consider using Jan Karel Pieterse's addin called AutoSafe (note
spelling).

It doesn't overwrite the existing workbook when it saves. It saves to a user
selectable folder. And when it's done, it either deletes these backups (or puts
them in the recycle bin). And the user can always restore the backups from the
recycle bin.

(look for AutoSafe.zip, not autosafeVBE.zip, for your purposes.)
