Automatic Network Login for Windows 95 for connecting to Windows X

Hello All,

I am able to connect [share drive] between Windows 95 and Windows XP Pro
successfully in both directions.

The only problem I have is that Windows 95 doesn't have any parameter for
USER NAME within it's NET USE command. Hence, it uses the Login User Name
while connecting to Windows XP Pro machine.

I want to use Automatic Login feature of Windows 95 using Registry Hacks as
described in
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q152104

It works for bypassing Logon Prompt only. It doesn't work for really LOGIN
as NET USE command fails after that.

Because after that if I use NET USE command, then Windows 95 mentions that I
must logon and then only I can use NET USE.

Can anyone help me how to LOGIN automatically so that I can use NET USE
command from Windows 95?

Waiting to hear from you.

Thank you.
Regards
Partha

I think you may be out of luck.

IIRC, with win9x, the only credentials which are supplied when
connecting to a network share are those of the currently-logged-on user.

The fact that you are 'automating' the logon with a blank password doesn't
change that.

Only NT / 2000 /XP offers the 'alternale credentials' option.

You either need to log on to 9x with the correct username/password
that satisfies XP, or you need to create an account on XP to match the
username / password you are logging onto 9x with.

( Or enable open Guest access to the XP box, via Simple File Sharing. )

Hello Ron,

Thank you for the information. But can you please tell me how do I automate
the login to Windows 95 with Blank Password using some Registry Hack?
In my last mail, I mentioned that I just can't run NET USE command without
logging in manually.

As you are saying, there is no way to automate the login with some password
even by writing some password entering program, so at least I should be able
to automate the login with blank password.

How to do that using some registry changes?

Any information other than what I have mentioned in my last mail.

Waiting to hear from you soon.

Thank you.
