automatic email address completion

I have a new lap top. I have all my old email folders in the new lap top
including contacts folders and all the address books. I am using Outlook
exchange server. The automatic email address completion feature is turned on
and works for all new e-mail addresses that I have typed in, but it doe snot
work for any of the old email addresses from the old laptop. How do I
transfer the information over from where the database of stored e-mail
addresses is in my old lap top over to the new lap top? I have all my old
e-mail folders and contacts folder but none of the addresses come up when I
try to type them – only the ones that I have used since starting to e-mail on
the new lap top of course. You would think that it searches the data base of
stored e-mail addresses. I have even tried to find the database by doing a
search for files which contain a text string like an e-mail address which I
know exists in my folders, but no luck, so the data must be stored in a coded
format.

Your autocompletion cache has nothing to do with your Contacts. It is stored
in a separate file with an NK2 extension and a name to match your profile.

Here are some instructions...

The file will have a *.nk2 extension and it is located in
C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

To copy it to the new computer, follow these steps:
Copy the *.nk2 file from the old computer to the new computer and save
it to the desktop
Open Outlook on the new computer
Rename the old *.nk2 file located in C:\Documents and
Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook to *.OLD
Copy over the new *.nk2 file to :\Documents and
Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook (make sure the
file names are the same)
When you open Outlook and create a new message, the autocomplete
entries should appear
