AUTOMATIC COLOR DEFAULTS FOR DRAWING OBJECTS

G

Guest

I HAVE OFFICE XP PROFESSIONAL.
WHENEVER I CLICK ON A DRAWING OBJECT LIKE A BOX OR CIRCLE AND THEN CLICK ON THE SLIDE TO INSERT THEM, ALL I SEE IS THE DOTS THAT OUTLINE THE BOX AND/OR OBJECT..........NO LINE OR FILL COLOR SHOW AT ALL..........I THEN HAVE TO ADD LINE AND FILL COLOR TO EACH OBJECT TO BE ABLE TO EVEN SEE THE BOX AND/OR OTHER OBJECTS BEFORE I CAN RE-SIZE / MODIFY THEM ETC

THIS HAPPENES WITH ALL DRAWING OBJECTS. I HAVE CLICKED ON THE "AUTOMATIC" SELECTIONS FOR FILL AND LINE COLORS BUT IT STAYS THE SAME........WHITE UNTIL I ADD COLOR........ PLEASE HELP ME SO I CAN PRE-DETERMINE A LINE AND FILL COLOR THAT SHOWS UP AUTOMATICALLY WHEN I USE DRAWING OBJECTS IN POWERPOINT

THANK YOU

First, please turn off All Caps. It's very difficult to read and
interpreted by some as *shouting*.

Autoshapes have somehow been set to the default settings that you describe.
To reset, create a rectangle with the fill and line you want. With it still
selected, go to Format > Autoshape > Colors and Lines. At the bottom of
that dialog check the box next to "Default for new objects" and click OK.
Not create an oval or something. It should have the new default fill and
line.

This works for autoshapes, but isn't working for text boxes for me. (selecting the default for new objects after formatting a text box.) Suggestions?

It doesn't work for text boxes if you want a fill and a line. Is that what
you're after? If so, you can draw a rectangle (the default fill and line
will conform to the settings you've made) and while it is still selected,
just start typing. See if that does what you want.
