Autofilling fields in Word 2003

I am creating a form for staff to complete. I want them to enter a client
name in a field on the first page, and want that client name to appear in the
header on each subsequent page. Is there a way to paste a link, like in
Excel into a header?

cover this often-requested application.

My favorite way would be to create a custom character or paragraph style to
be used only where the user enters the client's name. Then in the header you
put a StyleRef field. (You can research the field and how it works in the
online Help for Word.)

If, however, there are more variables you'd like to sprinkle throughout the
document, I'd suggest creating and using custom properties. The users would
have to learn how to open the File > Properties dialog box and edit the
custom field values, or you could build a VBA user form for them to complete
on creating or revising the document. Then you'd insert DocProperty fields to
refer these in the header or body.
