auto updates

I think I may have accidently changed a setting required
to receive automatic updates. That is those that are
indicated by the small icon appearing automatically in the
system tray at the bottom right hand part of the screen.
Can someone please tell me what options and there
locations that are required to be set for automatic
updates to be received?

Control Panel, System, Automatic Updates tab is where the settings are.

However, there were no Critical Updates for W2K published in December so
this may be why you haven't seen any activity. You can double-check this by
visiting the WU site and scanning for updates to see if there are any
Critical Updates you need.

Security items are published 2nd Tuesday each month so next one is Jan 13th.
