Auto Update of Express Chipset Family Causes display problems

This was installed via auto update:
Dell Inc. - Video - Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family

It has caused a change to every part of my display: size of folders, size of
font, IE page sizes- everything is a mess. I have been thru alot of web
forums and Microsoft website. The closest thing I can find to this problem
tells you to do a Restore. That does not work for me.

I need to know how to fix this, I have tried to fix each issue individually
(i.e. change the display size) and it does not work.

I know I am not the only one with this issue, any help is GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks,
John

have you gone to device manager, display adapters, properties, driver,
rollback driver?

I did that but it did not fix ALL of the problems.
Then it auto updated again and caused the same problem.
I now know I have to turn off Auto Update.
Is there any way to go to a "Default" setup where all fonts, sizes etc would
be the same as it was "out of the box"?

Thanks for your quick reply!

Which autoupdate is this? Windows Update, or Dell's? I would never ever
recommend device driver updates via WU - but they don't generally get
automatically installed, as they are not 'critical updates'. There have been
exceptions, but those were rare, if I recall....

Try a system restore. I'd also call Dell, if I were you.

That sound like something from Dell? Unfortunately there is no "Default"
reset for just the views that you changed/adjusted between then and now.
You may get close with a new Profile. But to get back to square one you
would need to go back to square one as in factory default install.

Anecdotal evidence suggests that in fact AU *is* pushing this driver update
to Dell machines, Lanwench. We know as much about this as we do about
900485 and 905474. See conversations in Private MVP Security.
