Auto Font Scale in Charts - XP Pro

G

Guest

I'm having trouble with Powerpoint defaulting a setting in the Font formatting of charts.
It seems to be defaulting to Auto Scale - which messes up my formatting. I have to go
to each individual chart, select Format Axis, and then manually un-check the Auto Scale
box.

Is there a way to permanently turn this default off?

I wish.

Only thing I know to do is create a slide with a chart, then duplicate
that slide and change the data for the next chart.

Hello,

Unfortunately this cannot be turned off permanently, but you can create
custom chart types which have the text "Auto Scale" feature turned off and
then apply that custom chart type each time you add a new graph in Office
(it's a Graph thing, not a PowerPoint thing).

Create a user-defined chart type:
1) Insert new graph in PowerPoint (Word, Excel, etc.)
2) Turn off "Auto Scale" for text
3) Chart -> Chart Type... click on "Custom Types" tab.
4) Click "User-defined"
5) Click "Add...", enter name and details for custom chart type and click
"OK"
6) Click "OK" and click outside chart area to end editing

To use the user-defined chart type with "Auto Scale" turned off
1) Insert new graph in PowerPoint (Word, Excel, etc.)
2) Chart -> Chart Type... click on "CustomTypes" tab.
3) Click "User-defined"
4) Select custom chart type you created with no "Auto Scale" of text and
click "OK"

Ahhh, duh. I'd totally forgotten about that. Thanks.
