Auto Boot Problem

I've posted this in a Win98 newsgroup but have not received any
responses. Since I believe this problem is not necessarily Win98
related, I thought perhaps those who subscribe to this XP newsgroup
might have an answer.

I'm posting for a friend. Could anyone help?

'I have an Asus motherboard (A7V133), with 1333 AMD chip).
In the bios*(Award), there is a Power Up setting that allows you to tell
your computer to bootup at a certain time, each day. I had this
setting set and it worked fine until my power supply went out and had to
be replaced. Ever since, although the setting is set, in the bios, it
will not boot each morning.

Has anyone else had the problem, or any knowledge of what might be the
cause.'

Thanks,
roblem

Does the replacement power supply support this? Are all of the leads from
the PS to the motherboard connected? I believe that on some there is a pair
that needs to be connected for this to work.

All wires have been properly connected and in fact the system autobooted
the first time afterwards but hasn't worked since.

It may just be that the new supply doesn't supply enough standby power
to make this work, or maybe when the old supply went down it damaged the
motherboard (which is basically 'faking' a push on the power-on button).
Who did the power supply replacement - if a computer shop, they ought
fix the problem.
