Big Dave

I'm having a weird problem. I had a Santa Cruz sound card in my machine, and
it started getting goofy, it would disappear in games, on the tray, and in
device manger. Reboot the computer, it came back. Sometimes. Okay, I have a
bad sound card. (it's been in for over a year) Took it out, activated the
onboard sound on my Asus motherboard. Worked fine for about five minutes.
Same thing, started disappearing in device manager, and clicking on the
sound icon in the tray says I don't have a mixer installed. Reboot two
times, it comes back. Windows keeps "forgetting the sound card". I'm
stumped. Only thing new is the 120 hd.

Machine specs:
Athlon XP2200 on Asus A7V333
Radeon 9600 Pro
1gig ram
60/120 hd
Santa Cruz/On-board sound
Altec Lansing Speakers
Kingston Network card (DSL)

All drivers including the Via are up to date.
