Audio too fast

Hi,

On my new computer (mainboard: MSI 865PE-Neo2, onboard sound chip:
CMI9739a, Win XP pro) every sound, be it system sounds, mp3 etc, plays
with roughly double speed. It doesn't matter which programme, i.e.
WMP9 or WinAmp, I use.

I already tried reinstalling the newest drivers for the sound card,
directx or update win-xp and wmp. I also followed the directions on
http://www.nwlink.com/~zachd/pss/pss.html and turned off the hardware
acceleration - but nothing works.

I hope you're able to point me in the right direction!

Try relocating your PCI cards - possible IRQ conflict. Also try up-dating
your BIOS - be careful doing it. You could also try un-installing your sound
driver completely (including registry references - back it up first ... !)
then download and re-install up-dated drivers.

I'm not used to playing around with the registry. So, what kind of
entries am I looking for?

I saw that my PCI SCSI card and the sound used the same IRQ - so I
relocated the SCSI card into another PCI slot - now it shares the same
IRQ with my graphic card, but so far there don't seem to be any
problems here. The sound, though, is still the same. :-(

I can't update my bios since it's already the latest version...
