windows 2000 xp home edition - movie maker 2.1. Have been able to import all
audio files from hard drive into movie maker for slideshows then out of the
blue file is not valid or is corrupted comes up with the same files which
imported no problem before. Have not installed new soft/hard ware. Have tried
tools-options-removing filters etc but still no luck, please advise.

I assume you mean windows XP, SP2 and not 2000 which doesn't come with Movie
Maker.

What file type is this? WMA,,WAV, MP3
