audio driver

i have a toshiba laptop with xp on it. when i start the
computer there is no audio output. so i install the audio
driver and it works fine but when i restart the computer
the driver has been uninstalled and i have to install it
again. when install it, at the end of installation a
message appears saying;

the instruction at " 0 x 771c732a" referenced memory
at "0 x 00163278". the memory could not be "read"

any ideas anyone?
