audio conversation with Windows xp

Eric

I have a Gateway 2.53 with Windows Xp. I bought a
logitech quickcam pro 4000 and have a soundblaster 16pci.

Video works well and I can see others as they can see me.
The problem is about audio. I am unable to initiate an
audio conversation with MSN Messenger (I have version 6).
When someone initiate an audio conversation, I can hear
Him but he can't hear me. I test my microphone with Image
studio (from logitech) and the recorder of Windows and it
works very well. I had an onboard soundcard with my
Gateway and someone told me to buy and soundblaster to
settle the problem. I did but nothing changed (i disable
my onboard soundcard). I try to seek help from Gateway.
They told me they do not give support for software. I
tried to write to logitech, but no answer up to now.

If someone have a solution it would be really appreciate

Use windows messenger ver 4.7. Run the audio tuning
wizard. open audio controls and make sure you mic is not
on mute (yes it can work in some applications while on
mute) and the level is adjusted correctly. Last, and I
have had this problem with more than one person, make sure
the other person turns up his speakers within messenger.

Purchase a computer headset.. the built-in mics of the Logitech webcams are
NOT good..
