attachment problems-and I dont use IE8

I cant drag attachments off email. Word docs wont open at all, and wma music
files will open in Win media player with a d-click, but I cant save them
anywhere or pick the player I want to use.

This box has IE7, but I never use it (Firefox).

Any ideas?

Thnx.

Are you able to save Word (.doc) attachments?
Do you have Microsoft Word installed?

When you double-click an attachment, you don't get to choose which
app opens that attachment. Whatever app you have preset as the
default for that extension will open the attachment.

As a test, set Internet Explorer as your default browser, to see
if that fixes any of your attachment problems.

This is the latest:
When I double left clk a Word doc, nothing happens.
When I right-clk and choose Open, it opens (Office 2007).
When I right click and choose Save as, I get a message, The command failed
to execute.
I cant drag the doc off of the email.
Its the same deal with the .wma music file, except now I cant right-clk and
open it.

I'm not sure how to set IE as default. Or how to set Firefox back as
default. I'll try it, but if that solves the problem, it hasn't really
solved the problem. I haven't used IE in years.

Thanks.

It only takes a few seconds to change the default browser:
Open the Default Programs applet, which you can access either from
the Start menu or via the Control Panel, then click the first item:
"Set your default programs."
After a few seconds, a list of programs comes up. Click on "Internet
Explorer". If it doesn't respond with "This program has all its defaults"
then fix it by clicking on the option indicated by the first green arrow.

When you are finished testing, you can change the default back to Firefox.

I changed the default to IE:
I cant drag, double-click or right-click Open the doc.
If I try to Save as, I get The command failed...message.
I can drag the .wma file off the mail and onto my desktop now.
But I cant Save as or double-click or right-click Open it.
Strange...
