Attachment in OL2003

I recently found that attachment appeared as Winmail.dat in recipient's
email message; even it was sent with plain text format. I replied to the
message and attached a Word 2003 document. However, it didn't appear as it
should be. Is there something wrong?

P.S. I'm using Office 2003 on XP Pro and Word is the email editor.

Try disabling Word as your e-mail editor.

If that doesn't work and you are sending a message to someone that resolves
to a contact record. Go to the contact record and open it. Double click on
the email address and see if it is set to always send in Outlook Rich text.

Neo,

I did a test with combination of Word as email editor, HTML and plain text
format to create a message with Word attachment. It was so strange that
Word as email editor did not matter. I could see the Word attachment with
all HTML messages and Winmail.dat with all plain text messages. It would be
troublesome if either format got problem with attachment because OL2003
normally sticks to sender's format. On the other hand, I could not locate
the setting mentioned for Contacts. Please advise. Thanks.

Charles

Open a contact record. Double click on the e-mail address. The internet
format dropdown at the bottom of the dialog has 3 possible choices. Make
sure it isn't set to send using Outlook Rich Text.

I still read Winmail.dat after making the change. One of my friend whose
email is not in my address book also read Winmail.dat.

Hmm... I wonder if something is stuck in the nickname file. Start a new
message and type a partial of the friend's name/e-mail address. When
Outlook suggests the name, use the arrow keys to highlight the name and
press the delete key. Close the message and start a new one and try again.

Outside of that, do you have a PDA?

hmm... i'm not aware of ActiveSync creating a one-off situation where an
item will always go out in a Outlook Rich Text problem.
