Athlon 64 3000+ vs Intel Pentium D processor 820

I currenly have a Athlon 64 3000+ with an Asus A8V Deluxe. I have an
opportunity to buy an Intel Pentium D processor 820 and Intel board for
a reasonable price and would like to know if there would be any benefit
to me for gaming. I know that the one board is AGP and the other is
PCIE, but is there a huge difference in performance other than the video
bus? Thanks.

Oddly enough, there's a newish article:

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/28cpu-games.html

The tests were done with PCI-E mainboards and a 7800GT graphics card, but
the 3000+ was generally close or superior to the D 820.

As going to the D 820 would require a PCI-E graphic card and DDR2 memory, it
wouldn't be a cheap upgrade, even if it was an upgrade.

Address scrambled. Replace nkbob with bobkn.
