Asus 9600XT and Smart Doctor

I just installed an asus 9600XT for my friend, his computer is about 2 years
old, it has an Asus P4B mainboard and 2.0GB CPU, 512MB and Windows XP Home
Edition

Anyway the card seems to be working ok, but when we ran Smart Doctor it kept
saying the VDQQ voltage was out of range, it seemed to think it should be
3.3V (AGP 2X ?), but the motherboard is running in AGP 4X mode so the VDDQ
voltage should be 1.5V yes?

The Asus driver control panel, under the info tab, also shows that the
computer is in AGP 4X mode with fast Writes Enabled. I have had problems
like this before with various Asus Smart Doctor versions, in fact i just
downloaded the latest one for my own card, Asus GF3 TI200, and i am having
similar problems, it was working fine when first installed, then i played
SWG for a while and now its saying my VDDQ is 0V. then when i closed it and
reopened it it only has the overclocking options, all the monitor part is
missing.

Can anyone help?

I just purchased the asus 9600xt, and had nothing but problems with
smartdoctor. It was crashing my system, telling me the vcore was wrong (even
though probe for the mb said vcore was fine), and just general garbage. I
have uninstalled smartdoctor and will take my chances without it. I don't
have an interest in overclocking however.
Not that any of the above helps, but know that smartdoctor is a shameful
attempt at a good idea.

Is there any other option other than smartdoctor for monitoring my card?

Hey Dale;

If you want to overclock you card, or tweak it a bit, go to
www.omegacorner.com and download the omega drivers for your 9600 XT. They
are the latest ATI drivers with some added functionality. Thousands swear
by them.

Thanks for the reply, at least now i know it is Smart Doctor, the
video card is actually mt friends, he dosen't want to overclock, we
just wanted smart doctor for the safety features and smart fan
control.

I have a Asus geforce 3 TI200, and the smart doctor for that seems to
be unreliable too.

this is a pitty, coz otherwise asus hardware seems very good, and
always seems to win in hardware reviews
