Associate Paint Shop Pro with

drybones

Running Vista SP2 X86.

In attempting to associate Jack Paint Shop Pro 7 with JPG files I find
that it is not an acceptable program.

Assume that is because it is located within the X86 Program folder.

Any way around this?

Many thanks for your kind replies.

I have PSP 7.04 (and you really need the upgrade version not the 7.0
version) on all my Vista systems and have no problem associating any file
type that PSP reads. Open PSP and click on File, Preferences, File Format
Associations then either Select All or the check box for .JPEG then click
OK.

This association will remain until some other program is opened that
defaults the association to it which basically steals the association away
from PSP. I have had that happen even back with Win 98 as the operating
system.

Update for 7.04 is located
http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ca/en/Content/1157481830100?pid=1153321344343
(If the link doesn't take you directly to the update to download go to
Corel.com and then support, Also available, older versions, select the
proper product in the dropdown.

Hope this helps, let us know.

Assuming PSP7 works OK with Vista then this should work fine. How are you
actually trying to do it? Right-click: open with, or from within PSP
itself? Describe it step-by-step.

What's the X86 Program folder? PSP should be in C:\Program Files\Jasc\Paint
Shop Pro
(or something very similar. I have version 12 and they're owned by Corel
now, so mine is different)

I take it you have no experience with Windows Vista 64.

That folder is where Vista 64 puts 32-bit programs for compatibility and
other reasons (that are too subtle for me).
