Assigning Drive Letter for Hard Drive During Install

C

Computer Moose

Is there any way to assign the drive letter of my hard drive as "C" during
installation of Windows XP Home Edition? I understand that this OS works
best when the hard drive is designated as "C," and for some reason this does
not happen when I install it.

Thanks for any assitance in this matter!

How many hard disk have you got? How many partitions have you got on
these hard disks? How many operating systems do you have installed on
the computer? It doesn't make a hill of beans of difference what drive
letter is assigned to the operating system, it only makes a difference
if you try to install certain old software that is hard coded to install
on C:\.

Unfortunally not. But usually this is caused by USB drives
as internal card readers. If you deactivate USB in the
BIOS setup and reactivate it after installation, then you
get XP on C: if it is installed on the first non hidden
primary partition of the drive with the lowes disk number.
