ARRGH!! "My Computer" appears empty

2 Problems - Related
----------------------
Right click START - EXPLORE ALL USERS
Shows "desk top" and "my computer" under it
Click on "+" of "my computer" shows drives C, D,E ... J, Control Panel,
shared docs, administrators docs
BUT - It shows nothing in right hand pane. It is like nothing is in "My
Computer"
----------------------
I use "Bulk Name Uitility" - Willsher
When I open it (and some other programs) there will be a panel with "desk
top" that I should be able to click and get "My Computer", Drive C, etc. to
find files.
BUT - It only shows "desk top" and when I click on it nothing happens.

Seems complex so any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Thanks Mark. In the strange and wonderful world of computers this solved
another problem I posted here "Icon There- Text Missing". But not the
problem posted here. Thanks.

The first brought up the desktop window. In left panel
desktop/mycomputer/drives etc. In the right panel IE and Oulook icons which
are hidden on desktop. I have no icons on the desktop showing.

The second brought up my computer with nothing listed in the window. If I
move up I bet the desktop with the two icons IE/Outlook. I can go nowhere
else.

Thanks.

{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D} is the CLSID for My Computer.

explorer /e,::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D} should open My Computer
with the Folders pane showing on the left and My Computer listed in the
Address bar.

explorer ::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D} should open My Computer
with the Tasks pane showing on the left and My Computer listed in the
Address bar.

Both should show drives in the right hand pane.

Start | Run | Type: desktop | Click OK should open your Desktop folder.
I.e. C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name Here\Desktop

Start | Run | Paste: %userprofile%\desktop | Click OK should also open
your Desktop folder.

Do you have TweakUI installed? TweakUI can hide drives from My Computer.

BINGO! I found what I had done through your TweakUI suggestion. Somehow I
had deleted My Computer from the desktop and because I had the desktop icons
hidden I didn't know it was gone. Pulling it onto the desktop did the trick.
I am now able to see everything again.

Thanks Wesley staying with me on the!
