Arrange windows of many PPT files

H

Hari Prasadh

Hi,

Following question is a fallout of using the feature in Excel (and to some
extent in word) a lot.

I want to open 2 different powerpoint presentations side by side in the same
window. So, I did Tools-Options-View - Unchecked Windows in Taskbar.

Now, after having both the presentations in the same window I wanted to
arrange them in different ways to see which would suit best. But in
Powerpoint there is only one sub-option which is "Arrange All" and clicking
on this I get only Vertical alignment. Doesnt PPT offer horizontal, tiled
etc. (Does it make sense to have these in PPT?)

Thanks a lot,
Hari

In PP2003 and PP2002 you have the option of Arrange all (tile) or cascade.
What version are you using?

Hi Bill,

I have 2002.

In PowerPoint Within Window, I have options -- Arrange all and Cascade.

In Excel, within Window, I have options -- Arrange...-- and within Arrange
sub-menu I have -- Tiled, horizontal, vertical and Cascade.

In power-point Arrange all seems to produce the effect of Tiled (I
interpreted it as vertical previously).

So, doesnt powerpoint have Horizontal and Vertical Arrangement as in excel?

Thanks a lot,
Hari

No, just vertical.

The New Window trick is cute though. I'd never paid much attention to that.
You can open a new window change the view to, say, Slide Master. Now you have
the master in one window, the slide in another. Changes to the master update
right away in the slide window.

Sweet.

Hi Steve,

Thnx a lot. Got to learn that there is something called Slide master as
well.

I use the New window feature a lot in Excel (and recently started using it
in word as well). Thnx for telling me in what kind of situation one could
use New window feature in PPT.

Thanks a lot,
Hari

My pleasure, Hari. I learned something new too. Keep those questions rolling
in.
