Are the Processes shown by the Task Manager all or any services?
I can't match up the names in that list with the Services list.

I think I know what Applications are but not what Processes are.

Thanks

Get a copy of Sysinternals Process Explorer from here.

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/cb56073f-62a3-4ed8-9dd6-40c84cb9e2f5.aspx

Start Process Explorer. You'll see a bunch of "SVCHOST"
entries. Pick them one by one, and do "Properties" on them.
You'll notice, at least one of them, has a large number
of services listed in it. (They're not divided up
equally.)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Svchost

I tried "tasklist /svc" as instructed in that article, in an MSDOS
(command window), and it gives much the same information.

Wow! I've been looking at the third site referenced.
I believe I have MANY processes that I can do without.
Thanks

Thanks

BTW I noticed it is not included in
http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_index.htm
What ever that means :)

I'm looking at it now.
So much information!
