I work on WinXP Pro (80GB HDD, P4 2.8GHz, 512MB RAM, SP2).
Whenever I login (using my username & password), I find that XP takes
considerable time to proceed & display the desktop. I had a look at
the list of processes in the Task Manager without explicitly starting
any process/program & found that a few processes, which aren't
required at start-up, were listed there. These processes are neither
listed in Services under Computer Management (right-click My
Computer--->Manage--->Services) nor are they listed in the Startup
folder (Start--->Programs--->Startup).
Some softwares (like Yahoo! IM, Window Blinds etc.) give users the
option to load (or not load) their respective processes automatically
when XP starts but the softwares related to the processes which start
automatically when I login do not give this option.
Under such circumstances, how do I prevent such processes from
starting automatically when XP starts?
Thanks.
