Archive file Size limit on 2003 is 2GB for user- ??

Please correct me if I am wrong but I thought the defualt size for a pst file
in Outlook 2003 is 20GB. Our issue is we have several users who have reached
their limit (but it is only 2GB in size for the archve). From what I have
read, that only applies to pre- outlook 2003 archive folders.

My guess- becasue I have not been here at the company for previous outlook
versions- is that their original pst was imported in from another version of
outlook and, being from outlook 2000- is limited to 2 GB insize.

1) Would this be a correct assuption?

2) If so, is there a solution to this issue- meanig can I convert this to a
pst that will be allowed to grow beyond 2 GB?

You are partially correct, and I suspect if you right-click the root of the
PST in the Navigation Pane and choose Properties, then Advanced, you'll see
that it is an Outlook 97-2002 PST. However, it applies to all PSTs, not
just archive PSTs. A PST is a PST, whether its your delivery location PST,
an archive PST, or an IMAP account PST. While Outlook 2003 IMAP account
PSTs always use the Outlook 2002 format, the same is not true for any other
PST.

Importing would not have that effect.

No.

Sure. Create a new PST and copy the contents of the old PST to it. Remove
the old PST and reset the archive settings to use the new PST.
