"ARC firmware boot configuration problem" error

Just built a new computer and after installing WinXP Pro I
get the error "windows could not start because of the
following ARC firmware boot configuration problem. Did not
properly generate ARC name for HAL and system paths" I
found this in Knowledgebase but it was confusing. Will it
fix it if I just re-format and re-install? Thanks
