Applying labels in outlook 2002

L

Lady Dungeness

I've got some items on my calendar. They are assigned to Personal, Medical,
Holiday categories. Can I have a different color label for each? Right
now, they are all yellow.

For National Holidays/Bank holidays, is there a way to color the whole day a
different color?

I'm a 2-week-old Outlook user. ;-)

I've read that article before. What I want is for the color to be set
automatically -- as soon as I assign category "Medical" to an appointment,
for example, the color turns black and blue; or whatever.

Lady D

| Yes, labels can be different colors. You can either use custom views to
| assign labels to categories or set the labels directly on the items.

|
| No, not in outlook 2002.

Outlook's labels and categories don't offer that ability - unless you use a
custom view. The color is not actually applied to the item though - if you
change views or move the item to a new folder you "lose" the label color.

Outlook 2007's color categories will do it.

Access the custom view menu:

I read that. I have already done a little customization. But how do I
customize so that holidays are one color, appointments another, etc etc?
Please. :)

you either need to apply a label to each item or create a custom view and
set up automatic formatting based on the category.

to quickly change labels, use a group by label view (you'll need to create
it) and drag items to it. You can use a by category view and add a subgroup
of labels - label one in each category and drag to the label groups.

OK. Thanks. I'll work on that for a while.
