Appearance setting s not saved AND weird font trouble (related)

When I reboot, my computer (Sony Vaio XP 512mg)has not kept the
appearence I previously selected.
1.I have selected the STANDARD XP SILVER Theme, no
modification.(silver bars, drop shadow font, with no background color
on icon text fields)

2. I reboot- and to me it looks like the standard BLUE XP theme (Blue
bar, text in Blue background on icon txt fields)

3. If I open IE, ALL TEXT on ANY website is HUGE, like setting to
large font in IE View menu, And often the wrong colour... especially
when....

4.website background colours are often wrong, usually white.

5 SO.. I RE-relect the SILVER... half works... the bars go silver...
the icon text field s go GREY (not transparent drop shadow as they
should...)

6. THEN.... about 5 or 10 minutes later.. with me NOT touching a
thing.. FLASH... something happens on my screen, a flicker, and
everything is back to normal.. correct size text and colours on IE,

When you get the theme to your liking, Go to the Themes settings and 'save
as' My Favorite Theme. Then reboot > now go to the Themes settings and
select 'Your Favorite Theme'. If it's still screwing up on you I'd check for
any spyware or viruses, sounds a little strange.

But Im afraid that your suggestions did not work.

As I say the weird thing is that after a few minutes the text size and
colurs return to normal...

anyone else give me a clue?

Depends, more info needed. In the meantime are you using any third party
desktop enhancers or options via Accessibility?
