%APPDATA% folder on Desktop

I am running Windows XP Pro with all the updates as well
as Office XP. Recently a folder named %APPDATA% is
being automatically created on my Desktop whenever I
browse the web and go to a site where there is a need for
a secure connection. The folder has also been created in
the C:\ root directory as well as the C:\windows
directory. It contain sub-folders Microsoft -->
SystemCertificates -->My -->Certificates, etc. If I
delete it from the Desktop it comes back. Can I/should I
redirect or hide this folder? I'd rather not have it on
the Desktop. Don't know what I could have done to cause
it to start appearing there. How do I remedy this?

i would try to change the ext on it, exe,whatever it is.
and move it to doc. or somewhere. first do a restore
point. then get some anti-spyware software and run it. it
might be related to office, but it sounds like a bug. you
can always look it up on the net.
