Yes. Virtual Server 2005 R2 (free from Microsoft). It needs 512MB ram
minimum allocation from the system ram.

Ok, I found the url to dl'ed it. Will it automatically update? I think I
saw some "addins" that need to be dl'ed in order to run Vista 5472 where
can I find those?

The Virtual Machine Additions for Vista Beta 2 (builds 5384 and 5456) are on
Connect. Go to Available Connections at
http://connect.microsoft.com/availableconnections.aspx
and apply for the VMAdds there. You will sign in and then have access.
Download both the readme file and the VMAdds. The installer simply places
an .iso file on your system where Virtual Server can find it.

If you don't like the Virtual Server interface then use it long enough to
create a Vista vm and then switch to Virtual PC 2004 SP1 to run Vista. The
VMAdds will work fine in either. The reason for using VS in this scenario
is because the virtual cd drive in VPC cannot handle the Vista .iso file
(too large) but the VS cd/dvd drive can. You may prefer the user interface
in VPC over VS.

Vista will not use the emulated soundcard in VPC/VS so don't expect sound.

Got it!
Thanks Colin.

Heaven's no. The S3Trio emulated video card does not support 3D drawing and
only has 4MB of video ram (8MB with the VMAdds installed).

Colin,

Didn't think so, but had to ask... but that brings up another question... is
Aero Glass only a UI enhancement? Assume so, but what I'm asking, I guess,
do any other parts of the UI change if Aero Glass is not enabled, i.e.,
shortcuts in Control Panel, for example... wouldn't think so, but I haven't
played around with the UI other than under Aero Glass...

Thanks,

Lang

Glass is a graphical enhancement to the theme, but not running Glass does
not turn off the theme. Thus, Aero and Aero Glass. You would still get the
Aero theme in Vista running on VPC.
