is there a way to also sort the prepositions like 'a' 'an' 'the'? is there
a
way not to ignore them when sorting?

Yes.

But if these are the song titles why do you want to do that ??????

BTW, what format are you using ?

mp3's : edit them with this -

http://www.id3-tagit.de/

If its for an iPod, then use iTunes.

If its for wav's, then use Windows Explorer and right click on the title
then rename.

yeps its mp3 tags, i wanna sort them and retain the current tags, for example
the preposition "the", i wanna sort them inline with the letter "t"s, so when
i press "t" i'll be pointed to the music starting with "t"

id3Tag then or a similar editor.

so are you suggesting that i remove those prepositions? i actually dont
understand what you're trying to say, i personally edited all the tags
myself, i think the sorter of wmp is ignoring the prepositions...

OK, here we go.

Title is "The Song"

If you want the song to be classed under s (for Song), then the title has to
begin with an s.

If you want it to be classed under t (for The) then the title needs to begin
with the T.

Another example : do I want to have the group names as The Beatles or
Beatles ? If the former, then it'll be classified with all those groups that
I tagged "The ........". If I got rid of the "The", then they'll be
classified with all those groups beginning with a "B". Capice ? Same goes
for song titles. Drop the "The" and you"ll get a metter classification.

WMP will classify by the FIRST letter of the title (T for The, S for song
etc.) Make sure your tags are up to scratch.

unfortunately, what u said, is the same with what i first thought, see
screenie below

http://comsoc.evenhosting.com/web/screens.jpg

thats the tag of the song "A Whole New World", the title in the tag is "A
Whole New World" but still this happens:

http://comsoc.evenhosting.com/web/screenie.jpg

in the past versions of wmp what we thought are correct, but wmp11 in
vista,
states the other way..

One last try.

Don't confuse the title with the tag.

For example : you can have as a title in Windows Eplorer "A Nice Day.mp3".

But the Tag of the song, read on your iPod or mp3 player could be "Nice
Day".

I use Windows Explorer to change the title but the Tag changer mentionned
above. The tag is what your mp3 player will read, which is not necessarily
what you see as the TITLE in WE.

Try downloading the software above, its almost self explanatory to use, and
then change the Tag (don't forget to click on the Save Icon to save your
work. Then transfer the song to your mp3 reader. Did that work ?

Apart from that I haven't a clue what you're after ...... ;-)

Jerry
