Any problems with Office XP Service pacK 3?

I am not prompted to update, but I don't think I have Service Pack 3 installed.
My problem is that my Outlook email does not access my mail server unless I
disable my firewall. I am using Norton Internet Security 2005.
Norton says there is a conflict with Service Pack 2 and suggests going back
to service pack 1 but I would rather solve the problem with a microsoft patch
or update. Any suggestions??? If service pack 3 is installed will I do any
damage reinstalling the update???

There have been quite a few odd problems reported that last month or so in
regards to send/receiving e-mail in Outlook. Most of the issues can be
traced back antivirus/antispam/personal firewall software that scans e-mail
as it is sent/received or because of a bad update*.

Based on your description, I think I would try uninstalling/reinstalling NIS
2005 w/out e-mail integration and see if things improve.

As for some potentials gotchas when SP3 for Office XP (Outlook2002) is
installed, see http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/ol2002sp3.htm. (I think the
reinstall of SP3 will fail. Which means that a detect and repair would be
the route one would go.)

ps - Symantec put out a bad update for NIS 2004 on Dec 6th. Haven't heard
of anything like this for NIS2005.
