any fix for printer issue?

I know I have posted before about this issue but I cannot get my HP
Photosmart 1000 to work with Vista, the existing drivers just dont work. Is
there a fix, workround etc that might get it working? I need the printer and
there are no (official) Vista ready printers so we need to be able to
evaluate the whole thing and not just part of........ does anyone agree?

Have you tried using the "Add a Printer" function from the welcome window or
control panel?

When it asks you for a disk or select from a list, try installing printer
drivers of similar printers. It prints a test page, if it works, at the end
of installation.

Vista will keep asking you for the correct driver when it boots up, but it
doesn't matter much if the substitute driver works. You can remove any that
don't.

Also, I have found that vista has a LOT of it's own printer drivers in box,
so make sure that you check that with the "add printer" tool...
