Any experience with importing Video from Hitachi DZ-MV270E DVD CAM

Importing Video from Hitachi DZ-MV270E DVD CAM to Windows Movie Maker seems
quite troublesome.
1. Movie Maker does not know the extension .vpo and a renaming into .mpg
2. does not bring any video effects under Movie Maker although Windows Media
Player is able to show the movie.
3. Movie Maker is not able to discern the different scenes and make the cuts.
Any comments or solutions?

Best regards

MM is designed to edit dv-avi files. Do a google search to convert your
movie to this file type and import it into MM for editing.

Your dvd-cam records in MPEG2 format which is not the best format to edit in
MovieMaker. As Graham has said MM is designed to work with video file
formats which microsoft windows supports natively (wmv/avi). To edit in MM
you need to RIP the dvd disk your camera produced, and convert using some
tool into an AVi format.

Note that MM does not save in MPEG2 format so after editing you would have
to convert the output video into MPEG2 using some other tool, if you want
the final output to go to a DVD.

These conversion from and to MPEG2 are not trivial and require a lot of
time+processing. So you might like to consider a video editor that can work
directly on mpeg2 files without conversion (such as VideoReDo).
