Hi,
Repairing Windows will overwrite any updated drivers
you have installed. You should download those and
save them to a folder in advance.
I suggest downloading Motherboard Chipset drivers,
Video drivers, Sound drivers, Network Card drivers,
Monitor drivers, and the latest SECURITY updates.
You'll need your CD to repair Windows XP, here's how:

How To Repair Windows:
Unplug from your Internet connection, and then repair Windows:
using this method:

* Download the Sasser patch to reinstall it after you repair Windows!
Afterwards, boot up your system, turn on your XP Internet Firewall,
plug back into your Internet connection and install all Critical and

| Selective startup sort of worked, one game got further
| than it has in a while before stopping and one other was
| actually installing, well that is until my computer
| crashed, blue screen of death and memory dump style,
| KERNEL_STACK_INTERNAL_ERROR, I frequently get blue screen
| of death errors when I am installing games, especially
| when it looks like they will install, could this be an
| issue that requires a repair of XP? one problem I have
| is, if I have to repair will any drivers I have installed
| since first installation be overwritten? and also is it
| possible to repair the installation from windows or does
| it require booting from the original XP cd-rom?
