Candi

I have been having lots of problems with my computer. The
popups turn to about:blank, computers been freezing up,
lots of weird things I have no control over. Now I find
out,by running spybot,That I am infected with winpup32.exe
(something german).I dont understand how to get rid of
it.When I run a scan it gets rid of the dos explicit(IE
hole) and then I can run it again and it is back. The
winpup32 is very serious and needs some attention I cant
get rid of it without paying about 40.00 for some anti
spyware that may not even work!!!Someone who knows what
they are doing please take control of this and help all
of us who are being tormented by this...winpup32.exe!!!!!!
Thank you

Here are a couple of thoughts:

1) Symantec has manual removal instructions here:

http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/adware.winpup.html

These involve editing the registry, which must be done with care--there is
no undo command.

If that seems unduly risky to you, Trend Micro's online scanner has added
Spyware to its detections, and it cleans. You might simply let it do a
scan--you'll need to authorize it's ActiveX control, and it will take
awhile, but it should do you some good in the end.

Does Microsoft Windows Antispyware help you at all? Have you downloaded it
from http://www.microsoft.com/spyware? If it does not remove this threat,
please submit a suspected spyware report in the tools menu.
