Another time failure in Ghost 10.0

I saw this issue previously posted, but I didn't see a solution.

I had Ghost installed earlier on a new XP system, but noticed that no
incremental backups were being done. Looked at the schedule and it was
due way out in the future.

Just un/re-installed Ghost 10.0 on the same system. Performed a
initial restore point for drive C: and set a schedule.

Initial backup went fine, however the schedule says the the next backup
is due on 11/9/3092 (1086 years from now).

Anyone seen this or know how to resolve it?

Thanks.

Dan

Go edit the schedule and fix the date? What have you tried so far?

Unfortunately, the form for editting the schedule doesn't include a
field for the year. I tried modifying the schedule slightly by
including/excluding days of the week. This only kept on adding about
1000 years to the year of the scheduled date. Eventually, this year
exceeded the year 10,000 at which time the scheduled task then reported
an error.

Here's what I have tried:

- completely uninstalling/reinstalling Ghost
- rebooting - (numerous times)
- emailing Symantec support - no response yet
-chatting with Symantec support - got some guy who was just following a
script and had seemed to have no experience with the software - after
about half an hour of that, said he needed to discuss this issue with
his supervisor - no big surprise

- verified that my time and date are set correctly on the computer

Return the software for a refund or if they try to hit you with a 15%
restocking fee exchange it for Acronis True Image. Much better app
and doesn't require all this effort to fit a Square peg in a round hole.
Symantec software is just overall an aggravation to:
Pick any or all of the following:
1.) Install
2.) Get it "Work"
3.) Activate
4.) Update
5.) Renew
and most definitely a PITA to
6.) Uninstall

Thanks for the advice.

Another (human) robot from Symantec emailed me today and told me that
the my date format was set incorrectly. That is was using a two digit
year instead of a four digit year. He supplied a canned answer to set
my date to the proper format.

I suspect that this isn't the problem at all and checked my date
format. Yes, it was the four-digit format.

This leads me to wonder what year this guy is living in. Didn't
everybody move from a two-digit format seven years ago? (re: Y2K)

I've put in for a refund and promptly bought Acronis True Image.

FYI,

Ghost 10 uses .NET Framework. I experienced a problem (not yours)
until I reinstalled Framwork at the suggestion of Symantec.
Reinstalling Framework 1.1 and applying updates fixed my problem.

I see you took Mr. McCarty's good advice about returning the software
for a refund. The more people who return Symantec software for a
refund, the better chance there is that Symantec will improve their
offerings. Also, I believe you will be pleased with Acronis True
Image. Happy computing.
