Another reason why you shouldn't install Sun Java on your computer.

Actually, I said:

However, you're right. It was off topic.
Bla, bla...........

Gee, I guess you showed me.

However, if you want to ultimately have to rent Microsoft's increasingly
crappy software (as well as be prevented from installing any freeware),
be my guest and continue to be a Microserf. I for one think the plan
stinks to high heaven.

It's all aimed directly along Microsoft's goal, which is to have
everybody online all the time, renting software which is temporarily
downloaded from their servers as opposed to buying a copy of software to
install on your hard drive.

Never forget that this is Microsoft's ultimate plan.

I'm overjoyed that you're privy to "Microsoft's ultimate plan" and
have deigned to reveal it to us.
You can provide independent and verifiable references, citations and
facts to prove your allegation, can't you? Or is it merely your
opinion masquerading as fact?
Please, do regale us with your allegedly superior knowledge of
Microsoft's intentions.

Well, Dak;

I know John is perfectly able to articulate this but, MS has -for years-
talked about software as a service. That is, ceasing the "sale" of s/w
"products" and replacing that model with renting/leasing function-based
(word proc, spread) services. All via broadband delivery.

This strategy of MS' has been outlined in news media, trade shows,
executive announcements and annual reports.

However, it's not just MS, Dak, but Oracle, Sun, IBM (I'm sure I'm
missing some) have talked about the same thing via one or another "thin
client" approach at least since 1998. News.google.com should be able to
fill in any blanks for you, Dak. But if you're still coming up short,
let us know.

allegedly yours,

-Sparky

Hello Dak

I like the Left of Microsoft. The Right is not satisfying me, but leave
me open a way left. Thats all.

Other OSés are straight right or left. Not, to mention left up or right
down and vice versa. MS is Left and right. You could say, it is Right
and left, too. So everybody is satisfied.

I agree with Mr. Corliss.
I agree not, that John gave me Right.

Best Regards,

Daniel Mandic

And I'm amazed that you haven't heard about it yet. As Sparky says,
they've talked about it for years, referring to the rental plan
*euphemistically* as a "service oriented marketing strategy":

or how about Microsoft's white paper on it here:

See the above.

Apparently not.

Nothing superior about it. It's pretty much common knowledge if you ask
me, especially since Bill Gates himself has talked about it with the press.

As I said:
Typical of Microsoft.

1. Obfuscate.

Eg.: "Service" instead of "rented software"
2. Confuse

I defy you to find a description of dotnet that is understandable by the
average end user.
3. Feign innocence.

To the United States supreme court:

-We're *not* a monopoly and we don't steal software ideas. We compete
fairly-

Regarding the first, apparently their strategy has worked to perfection
as far as you are concerned.

bAh, always the same photo. That´s not the right photo for this article.

I like more the live events with Bill Gates. Like the one in Las Vegas
(maybe). The really funny moderator got a superduper handheld with all
functions (possibly multimedia) but he did´nt gave it back to Bill. He
put it in his Sakko and did not mention it any more :)
Also the presentation from Bill was the same as ever before, it crashes.

So I have no worry about overwhelming plans. Maybe next time Bill shows
his private Multimedia with turntables and tube amplifiers.

Kind Regards,

But exactly those crashes are the best thing in his shows, like when he
tried plugging an USB graphic scanner into a Win98 machine, or the big
rumble in Seattle, spring 2001...

with a smile instead of ......... well .. even talkin on the horn like a
lovelost student up all night beggin or a loud lady workin on a
bondsman as the bus clanks towards the klink ....... downtown .......

I wanna know if this sun java problem has anything to do with

Well.... then ignore my post. It wasn't directed to you specifically in
the first place.

Who or whatever are these "chiefs" you refer to?

Of course, since I don't have Sun Microsystems Java installed on my
computer, it will do no good for me to go to that site. Sorry.
