Anonysurf / SSL Tunneling ...

Gosh !
http://www.anonysurf.maxpcsecure.com/
....how does all this work, and do I need to be using something like this for
my "everyday" internet use ?
I like to think that I'm doing all the obvious things like simple basic
security-wise settings in IE6 including HIGH settings in IE6's internet zone
....including blocking third part cookies, saying "no" to almot everything
that comes along in IE6 browser windows, ...use Adaware and Ewido realtime
scanners, AVG a/v ...(well, I like AVG even though it's not the best),
....frequently slap an up to date msvp's hosts file in the etc directory,
fiddle with the freebies reccommended at mvps.org etc.

....I mean how many realtime scanners does one need to be running, and how
much virus/malware scanning does one need to do ?
I've got everything yanked up so tight that a "new" (to me) web site deemed
trustworthy, and one which has to have multiple web addresses added to the
Trusted Sites zone to get the damn thing to load, seems to me to be bad web
site design.

Even a major banking web site like http://www.abbey.com with it's scripted
"Logon" button, (that fails to appear unless you've already got your
knickers down around your ankles!), that opens a bare https window
configured without even the "different to the home page domain name" web
address in the Title bar e.g. one has to right-click and display its'
Properties to discover it's coming frim
https://myonlineaccounts2.abbeynational.co.uk , seems poorly designed too me
! ?

Hi RJK,

Nothing new there. IP address tracking has been always available (recording
your IP address on the server) and the location information they show on
maxpcsecure.com is not your actual gps location(down to four decimal places
accuracy, come on, your kidding me) , but the location of your ISP's DNS
server on the internet.(Do a tracert on a web site and you get back the
location name and even the rack number where a web server is located)

You may find that if you cloak your IP address with their software you may
not be able to gain access to some secure sites that are relying on your IP
address.

If you want to surf anonymously, go to an Internet Cafe.

Regards.
