Annoying Drip/Plop sound while surfing with MS IE

In case anyone else is looking for a solution....

For weeks I had been plauged by an annoying sound of a water drop most
everytime a page was loading in MSIE. For fear that IE had been
highjacked I ran various spyware dectectors but was unable to locate
the source of the sound.

Turning off sounds in IE also did not remove the problem.

Eventually, I discovered that the software PestPatrol was the culprit.
By default it generates a "plop" sound anytime it blocks a cookie. To
solve this, remove the CookieCrunch.wav file from the PestPatrol
folder.

You may also change the default .wav to a wav. file of your choice if you so
desire.

The CookiePatrol Cookie Crunching Sound Whenever CookiePatrol deletes a
cookie it plays ...\PestPatrol\CookieCrunch.wav.

To hear the sound, go to the PestPatrol directory (...\PestPatrol\) and
double-click on CookieCrunch.wav. You can substitute your own wav file if
you wish.

If you delete CookieCrunch.wav then you will hear the default Windows sound.
If you do not want any sounds played when CookiePatrol deletes a cookie
then:

Go to http://pestpatrol.com/support/downloads.asp#components and download
the silent CookieCrunch.wav file and replace the current one. or Execute
....\Program Files\PestPatrol\CookiePatrol.exe /NoSound from the command
line, batch file or login script.

Note:
The /NoSound option can be reset by PPControl => CookiePatrol => Enable
Sound refer to Using PestPatrol Control Terminal. The sound setting is not
reset when you reboot.

Lastly, if this is not the cause for others "drip/plop" sounds, might I
suggest that you refrain from using your Laptop in the hygienic facility.
