Animated GIFs not working in IE6

IE6 is only showing frame 1 of certain animated Fireworks
GIFs. Some work, others don't. The ones that are not
running were OK a few days ago with the same browser.
They work fine on IE5. I have the proper boxes checked in
the advanced settings. I have also deleted all temp
files. The odd thing is, the files run properly when I
preview them in my web authoring program.

Thanks Alan,

I'm a little leary of trying those fixes, because the
problem is inconsistent. Some GIFs work, others don't. The
only firewall I'm running is the one included with XP.

Why don't my animated gifs animate?

Take note of the mention of firewalls like @Guard as others like Zone
Alarm Pro and NIS may also have a disable option.

It might be due to Windows Firewall that comes with SP2. I turned min
off (Control Panel - Windows Firewall) and everything seems to work.

When it was on, animated GIFS i downloaded from the internet on to m
hard drive when opened in Animation Shop only showed the first frame
Using the direct URL of the GIF in IE6 also only showed the firs
frame. But if i downloaded a ZIP file containing a GIF it animate
normally in IE6 and Animation Shop.

The firewall is pretty amazing if it can do that - distinguish betwee
local and internet retrieved GIFS... and also incredibly annoying as i
doesnt's warn you when it is blocking GIF animations :
