alternatives to Intel's "Application Accelerator"

I naturally installed Intel's UDMA IDE drivers and the "Application
Accelerator" software ... but while installing the DVD-RW software (Roxio
v5), it lets me know DMA is not enabled ... and I read at the Roxio
discussion forum, the software is not likely to work at all with IAA
installed(?)

What are my alternatives? UDMA is enabled via the P4PE (1006) BIOS ... can
I uninstall IAA and then enable DMA via hardware management? How much of a
performance hit for the HDDs am I likely to see??

The Microsoft IDE drivers work fine on Intel chipsets. By default you get DMA
on HDs and PIO on CD/DVD (dunno why). You can easily change it under
Primary/Secondary IDE Channel properties.
