Alternate row background fill

To begin, I've just started using Access 2007 and I'm frustrated by the
number of default settings. I created a report and found that for some
reason, alternate rows are appearing with a gray background. I never asked
for this and I've looked in several places and cannot find a way to make it
stop. I've tried changing the field backgrounds to transparent. I've tried
changing the section's background to transparent. None of this is working.
I cannot find anywhere to turn off a theme, if that is what this is.

Open report in design mode.
Right-Click on the blue bar Detail. New menu pops open.
Click on alternate fill/back color.
Change to None or another color of your choice.
