altered email addresses

I recently had about 6 email addresses rejected. In each case, I discovered
that one letter was missing from the address. I had been using these
addresses satisfactorily for months and it seems to me that they had changed.
Has anyone else had this experience?

Yes - I keep Outlook open 24/7
Not sure what you mean about "how were you addressing the messages" - I use
the Address book - i.e. I don't retype them.

What happens if you delete and recreate the e-mail address field in the
contact?

After furious head scratching, Philip B asked:
