Alt-Tab App Switch Not Working Right

[This is XP Pro in a Spring 2003 Dell Dimension.] A couple of weeks (I think)
after installing Service Pack 2, Alt-Tab stopped working properly to switch
between open apps, IE6 iterations, Word docs, etc. I can switch between two
windows, the present and the last accessed, but not between more than two.
The little box with the icons for all open windows does appear, but only for
a second. If I try to insist, repeated alt-tabs give that common error beep,
then the highlight, in for instance IE6, will jump to the head bar and start
moving from File to Edit to View, etc.

Same deal with either Alt key, so I don't think it's the keyboard. Also
changed the keyboard battery, tried looking at its software etc., (Dell
Logitech cordless).

I tried System Restore but not to pre Service Pack Two, since that was a
mild hassle to install.

On another forum here, I chanced on a thread where people were asking
Microsoft how to remotely disable Alt-Tab in order to trap people onto
commercial Web sites. Could some temporary imposition like that have gone
permanent with me?

Can't seem to Google this problem. Am I unique?

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Of course you are unique. Probably just not in this problem. ;-) Since
the issue didn't happen immediately after SP2, I doubt that it was the
cause. Here's a link to information about Alt-Tab on MVP Kelly
Theriot's excellent site:

I *would* try a different keyboard and since yours appears to be
wireless, check on Logitech's website for any driver updates for it.
