Allowing users to change registry settings for disableTaskmgr

Hi

Generally don't want my users to be able to run the task manager. However,
in some circumstances, ie when an application has hung and the users only
way out is to re-boot, I would like to be able to momentarily grant them
access to task manager, so that they are able to try and close only the
offending program and not loose work on other applications. I have written a
program that will change the registry setting for disableTaskmgr which I can
activate which all works fine as long as the user has admin privileges
(which is not the case) Is there a way of creating a group policy that will
allow a user to have the right to change only this entry in the
currentuser\policies\system part of the registry?

Many thanks for any help given

You can use Group Policy/computer configuration/Windows settings/security
settings/registry to use Group Policy to set permissions on a registry key
which you may want to add users/domain users in your case to see if that
helps. If you want to try such I would do it at the OU level and not the
domain level so as not to affect all computers in the domain but just the
ones you want to target in the OU. --- Steve
