All Users and HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run items start twice

any shortcut in the all users startup, or an entry in the run line of the
registry starts twice. when looking in taskmanager/processes, each item in
either of those locations will show up as two processes, except for certain
applications which crash when you try to start two instances of them. I have
already checked every location in the registry that I could think of to make
sure that there are no other paths that point to the all users startup,
including the HKLM shell and user shell folders, the shell and user shell
folders for the user that is logged in, and everything under HKEY_USERS

any thoughts would be much appreciated...........thanks!!!!

- Startup group for currently logged on user (i.e., your account).

- Startup group for all users (i.e., common startup group).

- Current user's Run key in the registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

- All users' Run key in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

- Use SysInternal's AutoRuns for an alternative method of viewing
startup programs.

- Anything sitting in the deprecated WIN.INI file?

- Is this actually under Windows 2000, or are you using Windows XP and
seeing the duplicated startup programs when multiple users are left
logged in?
