AGP GART error

D

I have a new Biostar motherboard, K8T890, Via chipset, with a socket 939
AMD 64 cpu. The board has an XGP slot (AGP express slot) in which I have
installed the Chaintech Volari V5 videocard (video chipset is XGI Volar).
I have loaded the current Volari drivers and the latest Via 4 in 1 drivers
installed. The Via 4 in 1 is supposed to contain the AGP GART driver. The
OS is Win XP Pro with SP2.

With every boot, I receive the error message that the AGP GART Driver is
not operating, contact motherboard chipset manufacturer.

Neither the VIA nor the Biostart site has been helpful. Any ideas as to
the origin or solution to this problem? I am baffled; I and my colleagues
have made no progress and would appreciate any help.

I have found a solution to the problem. I disabled a startup program,
AGPDetect, and the AGP GART error message no longer comes up. The card
and the video are now working excellently in the Biostart K8T890
mainboard. I used a freeware utility autoruns to find that this file is
running at startup and was installed automatically when the Driver was
installed for the video card. Perhaps this information will be useful
to others.
