agonizing situation

I also received all the time the message "Windows Mail can compact the
message store.This may take up to a few minutes". Unfortunately, regretfully,
one time I clicked on to "accept" - & promptly lost some very important &
valueable files (or folders). Since then, weeks ago now, every day I am
constantly searching to try & find those files - where they went.if they were
deleted or what. Finally, I am having to spend money & take my computer for
outside help wondering if they also wont be able to locate these files.

The messages should still be there, as the compaction does nothing to them.
Try Dr. Cochran's program to compact and repair the database.

If you lost messages, then search for *.eml and include hidden files and
folders in the Advanced search options. The message store location can be
ascertained from Tools | Options | Maintenance | Advanced | Store Folder.
