After XP Pro install, can I read data off old drive?

Have new 80GB HD not installed yet.
Current 60GB HD has ME OS on it.
Ready to make 80GB Primary HD and 60GB slave.

Ready to install XP Pro on New HD. Can I read data off old drive (that has
ME on it) after I install XP Pro on New drive?

There shouldn't be any problem with this. Assuming you get the jumpers
and cables properly set up, you'll be able to read from and write to
the old drive just fine.

Absolutely. Set your new hard drive to master and your old hard drive to
slave. To be safe, I would disconnect the old hard drive while
installing XP to force XP to install on C:\. Boot with the XP cd and
use it to create a partition, format, and install XP. Make sure you do
not have any peripherals attached while doing the install. After XP is
installed, shut down the computer and attach the slave (old) drive.
Reboot and XP will see it as an additional drive. You can then delete
all the ME system files and just leave the data, and use the drive for
storage.

Unless the old drive is defective, certainly.
